"In these works, I’m exploring the relationship I have with landscape. Both external environmental landscape as well as my internal landscape and where they cross over.
These works give me the opportunity to express my internal landscape by just allowing my hands to move and create without too much criticism. To find freedom in the movement and allow colours and mediums to mould and mix together. To play. To enjoy the act of making something. To allow my instincts and intuition to guide my mark making. To feel it out rather than plan and try to make something pre-meditated. Creating new external planes and contexts for ideas to exist within.
This is offset by the meticulous pattern and mark making with pen and ink. This is a narrative of objects I see around me, creating stories and scenes and allowing my surreal inclinations to take over and create new worlds.
There is no escaping our landscapes. Wether external or internal, it is the only way anything can exist. Nothing can exist without context."
