Joy Adler - 'Retrospective'

“The works in the exhibition are a retrospective in relation to a journey of change as research and academic guidance gave support to learning, development and expression over the last three years.

Initial paintings focussed upon the spirit for survival in wild birds and moved to abstract landscapes that provided a ground for contemplation.The process of learning has been one of immersion whilst simultaneously intentionally becoming rational in selecting and experimenting with form and colour.

Travel into Asian countries made for a strong influence but Russian and German artists from the last century maintained a drawing towards Constructivism.Colours used are generally muted, with space and colour intended to draw the viewer towards tranquillity and contemplation.”
