A latecomer to the printmaking world, Peter Brown had earlier gained a reputation for his photographic work - particularly his high contrast black and white imagery. But on his retirement from the world of dentistry, Brown discovered a new passion - that of etching, where his high contrast approach to image-making lent itself perfectly to the copperplate and heavy (or not so heavy) inking of those plates.
His subject matter is traditional - he enjoys the natural landscapes of, in particular, his native Victoria. But Brown is not averse to travelling further afield and discovering the joys of other parts of Australia.
