Christine Gibbs explores the themes of fragility and vulnerability and the growing threat of species extinction.
Of particular interest are remote landscapes such as Tasmania's central highlands, the far northwest of Western Australia and, with this exhibition, West Arnhem Land in the Northern Territory. The ink and watercolour drawings are derived from photographs and sketches produced during a visit to Mt Borradaile where the billabong is a haven for birds – as well as crocodiles. The birds and crocodiles happily co-exist.
The drawings are on a variety of papers including Japanese Kozo Natural, Arches watercolour and handmade recycled papers.
