Geoff Harrison - 'The Landscape Within'
Wednesday 3 - Sunday 21 April 2016
Geoff Harrison's paintings are intended to be challenging yet accessible to a wide audience. The settings may be anywhere yet nowhere and are often backdrops to some submerged psychological drama. He explores his own joys, fears and anxieties about the contemporary world and projects them onto the canvas.
Direct observation can lead to inward meditation which is achieved by capturing a particular light or depiction of a bleak horizon. In many of these works there is a lonely contemplation of an unspecified mystery.
Harrison explores the dynamic between beauty and loneliness, between isolation and serenity. He paints in the studio and, being geographically removed from the scenes, it allows him to impose his own deliberations and imagination into the scene.
