In 2018, we introduced the idea of the featured artist with a solo exhibition within the group. It’s a celebration of the practice of a single artist, and the offer is only made to an artist who shows commitment to their practice in terms of time, attitude, outlook and philosophy. Damon Kowarsky was the inaugural featured artist and for his exhibition, in a survey of the last 10 years or so, presented a focus on portraiture - work less seen as Kowarsky’s oeuvre is generally identified with land- and cityscapes.

Lisa Sewards is the featured artist for 2019 and she has chosen to present completely new work in continuing her exploration of narratives and storytelling within her practice. In working towards this years’ show, the parachute object continues as the pivotal motif in the images, and it is both revived and given new functions in the new pieces to be included. Sewards’ works intend to be familiar yet are newly created, all maintaining connections and a relationship to her previous bodies of work.
