Michelle Caithness

Michelle Caithness is a regional Victorian artist who works across both painting and drawing. Her interest lies in exploring imagery within the range of figuration to abstraction. In these small paintings she references the light and architectural forms of the studio to structure ambiguous spatial readings.

Caithness graduated from the Department of Drawing at Victoria College Prahran in 1991 and completed a Masters of Visual Art at Monash University. She has exhibited in over twenty group and solo exhibitions. Finalist awards include The Dobell Drawing Prize, The Kedumba Drawing Award and the The Nillumbik Contemporary Art Prize. She had initial links with Tacit more than 20 years ago - her first exhibition, Furl, was hosted by Tacit at the Thornbury premises in 2002.
