Rowena Hannan - 'While we are sleeping'

Wednesday 7 August - Sunday 1 September 2019

“We close our eyes to sleep, submitting to an altered state of consciousness in which another world takes flight. A world based in our imagination, our experiences and our fears. This body of work, inspired by Goya’s The sleep of reason produces monsters explores the lenses through which we look in order to form a dialogue with the viewer. While we are sleeping draws on symbolism from art history, our land – both political and natural - juxtaposed with the innocence of childhood.”
