Sara Manser - 'Shelter Me'

Wednesday 7  - Saturday 24 July 2021

These paintings are part of my ongoing interest in our coexistence with nature and our built environment. Nature represented by the hill, and the urban seen here in the form of a house, are motifs I have used throughout my practice. Having relocated many times, I always find myself connecting home, and my art practice, to some form of nature, in order to find balance. Visualising these concepts through a variety of media, here through painting, is how I adapt.

No house should ever be on a hill or on anything. It should be of the hill. Belonging to it. Hill and house should live together each the happier for the other.
