Kyle KM

Kyle KM, was born born in Ōtautahi, Aotaeroa in 1993. From 2016 onward he has lived here in Melbourne, Australia.

During his formative years, Kyle nurtured an innate passion for the creative and performing arts, delving into all depths of artistic expression.

In 2011, his focus turned towards the foundational aspects of drawing, and he immersed himself in the captivating world of diverse art styles and techniques. Over the following decade he pursued self-education, honing his skills in life drawing, colour theory, and the intricacies of oil painting. His thirst for knowledge led him to traverse the globe, delving into global cultures and identities, and extracting philosophical and sociological insights.

Eager to breathe life into classical artistic traditions he sought guidance from accomplished masters such as Michael Hussar, Kevin Llewellyn and David Cheifetz during a period of study in Los Angeles in 2019. These influences solidified his understanding of his craft and equipped him with the tools to manifest artistic visions that resonate with the essence of time-honored techniques.

His creative expression infuses historic traditions with a contemporary vibrancy and draws upon mythological and spiritual motifs, and intertwines them with present day subjects.

Through his artistry, Kyle aspires to drive forward a philosophical dialogue of the Queer experience.
